“Mom, Gena says to breathe.”

I started my personal practice with Gena at the same time my two eldest children, at the time 6 + 8, began sitting with Gena. They loved their time with her. I loved mine. We had a new way to help each other at home and in life. They are now 10 + 12 and use meditation tools for sports, school and helping me be a decent mom. I have also sat for years with Gena in a one-on-two practice, as I've nursed my younger two children or done yoga before we sat in silence together.

“I'm a regular at the monthly group sit.”

The monthly Mindfulness Meditation Group practice gives me the confidence to practice meditation daily on my own.  One of the many benefits of a daily practice is a calmer attitude; my husband says i’m less frantic. At the monthly Group Sit, Gena offers thoughts which provide guidance for living a life of quality–– pay attention on purpose with kindness, do no harm, be kind. I really enjoy when she brings in poetry, especially Rumi, the Sufi mystic, and Hafiz, Persian poet.
